Vonda Shepard will hit the stage with her all-star band as she returns to The Smith Center. The performance will feature songs from her new album, Red Light, Green Light, as well as her classic originals, “Maryland,” “Baby, Don’t You Break My Heart Slow,” and many more. They will also play some of the “Ally McBeal” faves, of course! This is an incredibly soulful and dynamic show, featuring James Ralston on guitar (Tina Turner, 22 years!), Jim Hanson on bass (Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen!) and a very special guest, Paul Taylor on drums (currently playing percussion with Crowded House!). Vonda has sold over twelve million albums, has won two Golden Globe Awards, two Emmys and two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and the Billboard Award for selling the most television soundtrack albums in history.

Dubbed the “Joan Rivers of the Drag World” (The New York Times), there isn’t anything Bianca is afraid to say. A self-professed “clown in a gown”, Bianca is quick to point out that she is the biggest joke of all.

Visitors can expect loads of fresh seafood served with a side of breathtaking views and rich history at the 18th Annual Deering Seafood Festival. The picturesque bayfront grounds of the historic Deering Estate in South Dade will host this family-friendly day where kids can run free on the sprawling lawn, music floats through the air and everyone can devour delicious seafood.

This film is on loan from and preserved by the Library of Congress. In the film, Corbin plays the family’s black sheep, who returns to her small hometown causing a sensation with her short skirts, cigarettes, and other “flapper” accoutrements.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock is a two-act musical based on the hit movie. It follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight–A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s headmistress finding out?

Lloyd Webber produced the stage musical on Broadway and in the West End, penning 14 new numbers for the show, which additionally features all of the original songs from the movie. The show is a loving testimony to the transforming power of music.

Founded in 2016, the Third Horizon Film Festival (THFF) is an award-winning festival that has set a standard for showcasing quality and creativity as it presents a platform for Caribbean, diaspora, and underrepresented and marginalizaed global south voices in film. After its hiatus in 2023, the festival's seventh edition will return on April 11, 2024. The 2024 festival lineup has not been announced yet. Stay tuned for updates.

In a rare U.S. performance, their first ever in Texas, Germany’s famed Ensemble Modern performs the American premiere of a new arrangement of Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht’s popular musical theater work, The Seven Deadly Sins, with acclaimed mezzo-soprano Wallis Giunta singing the lead role of Anna. The sound world conjures up Berlin cabaret, but Seven Deadly Sins begins and ends in Louisiana, evoking the exile of its creators. Music from the theater worlds of Berlin and Vienna round out this remarkable program.

The Triplets of Belleville tells the story of a Tour de France cyclist who is kidnapped by mysterious, square-shouldered henchmen and spirited across the ocean to the teeming metropolis of Belleville. But the true star of the animated film is the hot jazz score written by Canadian composer Benoît Charest. This screening of the beloved French film features Charest leading Le Terrible Orchestre de Belleville in a live performance of the original score, transporting audiences into the streets of 1920s Paris and Le Jazz Hot.

Miami Beach Pride returns in 2024, bringing its celebration of all things LGBTQ+ throughout Miami Beach. In addition to the free Saturday and Sunday festival and parade, Miami Beach Pride features 10 days of back to back events, ranging from rooftop movies to pool parties and a formal Pride gala. The 2024 schedule has been released however details for each event are still to be announced.
