Conservation Tip: Safely Dispose of Your Real Christmas Tree

The holiday season has come to an end, and while it’s always a little bittersweet to take down decorations, it’s important to properly dispose of your real Christmas tree. Real trees naturally dry out and need to be removed for safety and cleanliness.

You can take advantage of the City’s curbside yard waste collection program for convenient tree disposal. Simply remove all decorations, lights and tree stands, then place the tree on your curb for pickup on your scheduled collection day. Alternatively, you can drop off your tree at one of the City’s designated Waste and Reuse Convenience Centers, located at 2100 Alum Creek Drive, 43207, or 1550 Georgesville Road, 43228. These centers are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and provide free disposal for residents.

By disposing of your tree responsibly, you’re helping to support conservation efforts and keep our community clean!

Dive into Winter Fun: Registration Now Open at the Columbus Aquatics Center

Winter is here, and it’s the perfect time to make a splash! Registration for winter sessions at the Columbus Aquatics Center is officially open, and we’re excited to offer a variety of classes for all ages and skill levels.

Classes run from Jan. 6-March 2 (no classes will be held on Jan. 20 or Feb. 17 due to the holiday). Swim lessons cost only $48 per session, and water aerobics are $72 per session; sessions that miss a day due to a holiday will have adjusted pricing.

We believe everyone should have access to our programs! Youth who qualify for a PLAY scholarship can receive $20 off, and residents ages 50+ can enjoy $15 off per session.

Whether you're looking to learn how to swim, stay active with water aerobics or just enjoy time in the pool, there’s something for everyone this winter. Brighten Your Winter With Rick Borg’s “Daydreaming Art” Exhibit

Shake off the winter blues, and dive into the colorful, whimsical world of outsider artist Rick Borg at the Priscilla R. Tyson Cultural Arts Center’s Main Gallery! From Jan. 10 to Feb. 15, Borg’s vibrant collection of paintings and assemblages will fill the gallery with energy, creativity and joy.

Kick off the exhibit in style at the Opening Reception on Friday, Jan. 10, from 6-8 p.m. This free event includes complimentary food and drinks, making it the perfect way to enjoy art and connect with others.
