Join us in celebrating our military with a weekend full of fun! Military Exhibits Start off the celebration on Friday, May 18th with an up-close look at some military assets including aircraft, vehicles, and support equipment at the Del Amo Fashion Center parking lot. The military exhibits will be available through Sunday, May 20. 5K For Freedom On Saturday, May 18, kick off your morning bright and early with the 5K for Freedom, presented by the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce! Join in and run alongside our heroes in the Armed Forces. Register by tomorrow, May 3rd, and save $5! REGISTER TODAY 62nd Annual City of Torrance Armed Forces Day Parade Finally, join us in celebrating our Armed Forces at the Parade on Saturday, May 18 at 1:30 p.m.! This year, our honored military branch is the United States Space Force. Come out and meet members of the military and watch the parade as it marches through Torrance Blvd. This year is sure to be the best one yet! JOIN THE CELEBRATION Hometown Heroes Have you seen the banners hanging from the streetlights on Torrance Blvd., Madrona Ave., and Carson St.? The Torrance Hometown Heroes Military Banner Recognition Program recognizes our community’s men and women in uniform who are currently serving in the Armed Forces, veterans who have served in the past, or veterans of the past who are now deceased. This year 25 individuals were added to the list of honorees, including our very first United States Space Force Hometown Hero Banner! Learn more about the Hometown Heroes program, plus view all the Hometown Heroes honored since the program began in 2012, at www.TorranceCA.Gov/HometownHeroes AS SEEN ON CITICABLE Madrona Marsh Nature Festival The Madrona Marsh Preserve and Nature Center hosted a festival honoring the 50th Anniversary of preserving nature with the Friends of Madrona Marsh. Kids can enjoy card-making activities while everyone can indulge in tasty treats from the snack bar. Plus, enjoy the ambiance with live music throughout the day.
