Housing Element Certification

On Thursday, August 1, 2024, the State Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) certified the City of Hermosa Beach’s 2021-2029 Housing Element and accompanying rezoning, finding both in substantial compliance with the State Housing Element Law.

The 2021–2029 Housing Element is a key component of the City’s General Plan (PLAN Hermosa) that describes the City’s strategies for addressing housing needs in compliance with State law over the 2021–2029 period. This State certification is a major step in the City’s efforts to ensure sustainable local growth and community development, and a testament to the great things that collaboration between the City and community can bring. The City would like to thank the community for its input throughout about 20 City Council, Planning Commission, and other local meetings, and everyone involved in helping obtain this important certification.

Labor Day Notice

In observance of Labor Day, the Hermosa Beach City Hall and the Community Center will reopen on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024. Street sweeping will not be enforced, but all other parking regulations remain in effect. Street sweeping enforcement resumes Tuesday, September 3rd. In Case You Missed It

"The Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) hosted its yearly Volunteer Day on August 7th. The event serves as an annual opportunity for local businesses, organizations, and residents to come together to support the mission of creating a healthy beach community. Our Police Chief, Paul LeBaron, received BCHD’s “Partner in Health Award” at the event in recognition of his collaboration and support of important health-related programs and services over the years. Thank you to all of the volunteers for their hard work in maintaining our schools’ gardens."

Nine courageous athletes from our very own Hermosa Beach Police Department participated in this exciting event. Congratulations to them and everyone else who participated in the Triathlon – it truly was no easy feat!"
