Eucalyptus trees are being removed from Esther Clark Park as part of fuel abatement efforts. The Santa Clara Valley Water District has started sediment removal from Adobe Creek to help with flood prevention. The Baylands Interpretive Center is closed this Saturday, September 28 for power washing and pilings at the Lucy Evans Interpretive Nature Center are being repaired. Learn more about these efforts.   Celebrate Clean Air Day & Learn How to Create a Greener Home this Saturday Join us for Clean Air at Home in Palo Alto, an open house style fair to commit to a greener community. Learn about whole home electrification and ways to go green at home, including how to be green outside your home like using an electric leaf blower, commuting by bicycle, and more. Plus, free ice cream! City’s Rental Registry Launches Soon Extending the City’s Focus on Renter Protections This October, the City is launching a rental registry with registration required for some rental properties by January 15, 2025. Over 40% of the City’s residents are renters and as such, the City continues to evolve renter programs and resources for tenants and landlords in Palo Alto. The latest addition to the City’s focus on rental protections is a rental registry, supporting data-informed policies and future programs and resources. If you are a property owner with three or more residential rental units, you must register your rental property with the City of Palo Alto. Non-residential properties, non-rental properties, and residential rental properties fewer than three residential units are currently not required to participate. Gain resources to prepare, find answers to community questions, and learn about other rental protections in this update. Beyond the Books: Teen Mental Health Summit on October 5 The Teen Mental Health Summit is a unique opportunity for teens to engage in intergenerational conversations that support youth to thrive academically, socially, and mentally. Find valuable mental health and substance use resources. Connect and help reduce the stigma associated with seeking mental health support. Workshop themes include self-care, technology and wellbeing, and navigating life transitions. On October 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mitchell Park Community Center, teens and the community are invited to engage, grow, and connect.
