*Secure Your Financial Future: Tools for People with Disabilities*

1

No matter the stage of your employment journey, you may have important questions about financial planning. Our “Secure Your Financial Future” toolkit can help. Developed jointly with the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA), the toolkit contains financial literacy tools and resources that can benefit all Americans, including people with disabilities. The content is organized by stage of employment (e.g., preparing, changing or retiring from a job)—even young employees can plan ahead for a secure retirement by exploring the “Retiring from a Job” section! Read more and access the toolkit in a recent post by EBSA on the DOL blog.

Establishing States as Model Employers of People with Disabilities

2

Calling state policy makers! If you’re interested in making your state agencies model employers of people with disabilities, we have a webinar for you. In partnership with ODEP’s State Exchange on Employment & Disability (SEED) initiative, the National Association of State Personnel Executives explored innovative policies and practices to improve employment opportunities for disabled workers in the public sector. In the webinar, “Inclusion Works: Strategies for Establishing States as Model Employers of People with Disabilities,” ODEP moderated an engaging conversation with representatives from Arkansas, Colorado and Maryland to discuss how states can implement disability-inclusive hiring, retention and advancement strategies.

*ODEP and Women’s Bureau Aim to Advance Inclusive Workforce Policy*

3

Through a new collaborative effort, ODEP and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Women’s Bureau will partner to champion inclusive policies that improve access to employment opportunities for all workers, including women and people with disabilities. The effort leverages ODEP’s State Exchange on Employment & Disability (SEED) initiative to engage and educate policymakers on inclusive policies—such as paid leave, access to childcare or elder care and inclusion of diverse populations in high-paying trade occupations—that support equity in the workplace for women and disabled people.
