The City of Tampa Office of Emergency Management is looking for volunteers to join the City's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). The program trains citizens to be prepared for and respond to emergencies that may arise in the community. Volunteers will attend one class a week for eight weeks that cover subjects including incident command, search and rescue, CPR, and basic firefighting. Classes start on September 29. Backyard Composting Program

October registration is now open for our Backyard Composting Pilot Program (https://www.tampa.gov/solid-waste/backyard-composting-program) ! This program provides free backyard composting bins for single-family homes. Being a part of the solid waste process, individuals will get the chance to learn and start composting as they recycle their organic waste. This program is an educational partnership with the City of Tampa Water Department and UF/IFAS Extension office that is only available to City of Tampa residents serviced by the Department of Solid Waste & Environmental Program Management (which does not include New Tampa).

2022 Mayor’s Youth Corps

The Mayor’s Youth Corps is now recruiting for the Class of 2022! The program allows Tampa teens an opportunity to give back to the community & get a real-world glimpse into the workings of local government and the workforce. The Tampa Convention Center is looking for a Chief Maintenance Engineer (https://jobapscloud.com/Tampa/sup/bulpreview.asp?R1=210813&R2=001285&R3=002) to supervise activities relative to general maintenance and repair at the facility. Tasks will include completing performance appraisals, recommending hiring, promotions and disciplinary actions, scheduling work projects, and formulating work methods.
