Grief Across the Lifespan
Grief Across the Lifespan

Participants will learn how each age group copes with serious illness and loss of a loved one and how they may experience life threatening illness themselves. Join a Sutter Health grief therapist as they normalize death and non-death losses a person is likely to experience and address both positive and negative coping mechanisms. Participants will learn how to help others of all ages to understand that loss is at the heart of life and growth.

Navigating Resources for Senior Well-being: A Practical Guide

Join us for an informative workshop tailored for Santa Clara County senior citizens. Discover the wide range of resources available to support your health, safety, and independence, including senior centers, adult day programs, home care, and transportation services. Learn best practices for maintaining a healthy lifestyle through exercise, socialization, and nutrition. Get tips on effective communication with your care team and understand the importance of estate planning. Additionally, we’ll provide guidance on avoiding scams and accessing essential services like grocery delivery. Empower yourself with the knowledge to make the most of these resources when you need them!







Smart Vehicle Technology
Get Smart About New Vehicle Technology

Cars are becoming more technologically advanced every day and show no sign of slowing down. However, many drivers aren’t familiar with how to use the technology to keep them safe. Smart DriverTEK℠ is here to help! In this FREE, 90-minute, interactive workshop, developed jointly by AARP Driver Safety and The Hartford, drivers will learn how to utilize the latest high-tech safety features in their current or future car, to make driving safer and more enjoyable. Space is limited, so register now.







Dementia-Related Behaviors
Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors

People living with dementia may exhibit behaviors as a way to communicate their needs and feelings as the disease progresses. Join the Alzheimer’s Association to learn how dementia can change a person’s behavior, possible triggers, and person-centered care approaches to address behaviors.

Annual Pancake Breakfast
Feb. 8 from 9 - 11 a.m.

Please join us for our Annual Senior Pancake Breakfast at the Mountain View Senior Center on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 9 – 11 a.m. This event will include a hot breakfast of 2 pancakes, 2 breakfast sausages and 1 serving of eggs. From Jan. 6 through Jan. 31, tickets will be sold at the Front Desk ($5 each). Tickets can be purchased, CASH ONLY, during normal business hours 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Day of walk-ins cannot be accommodated. Please note that the last service will be served at 10 a.m., with the facility closing at 11 a.m. Please call 650-903-6330 for any questions. Event is for 55+ years of age. Guests must also be registered.






SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAM





Indoor Dining

Community Services Agency's Senior Nutrition Program has a full dine in meal service in the Social Hall of the Mountain View Senior Center. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. Sign in will begin at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The Social Hall will close at 1 p.m. Lunch service is first come, first served. On occasion, not all patrons can be served.

*Lunch service is limited to Seniors age 60+ and permanent residents of Santa Clara County.*

Wednesday movies start at 5:30 p.m.*

Come to one of our movie showings in Multipurpose Room B.
Maximum seating for movies is 36. First come, first serve.

When available, screenings have captions for the hard-of-hearing. There is no fee to enjoy these popular movies and seating begins 30 minutes before the show.

*NOTE: Please bundle up or bring a lap blanket with you to the movie. The room tends to be on the cooler side.*

SALA

SALA appointments at the Senior Center on the first Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. In order to receive free legal services, patrons must be at least 60 years of age and a Santa Clara County resident.




SECOND HARVEST

Free Grocery pick-up is the first through fourth Tuesday of each month, 8:30 - 10 a.m. Pre-registration is necessary. Please see the Front Desk for more information or visit the Free Grocery program on days/times of operation. Sponsored by the Second Harvest Food Bank [ http://www.shfb.org/ ].






BP screening

Free blood pressure screenings from a volunteer registered nurse on the second and fourth Fridays of each month from 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. in Multipurpose A. No prior registration required. 




HICAP new

Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) appointments are available at the Senior Center the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. Volunteer counselor can help you understand your specific rights and health care options.

Are you struggling to understand your iPad or iPhone? 30 minute appointments are available with a volunteer on each Thursday of the month in the Lobby between 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. to answer your questions.




AARP TAX PREP

AARP Tax- Aide certified volunteers provide free assistance and e-filing for low-to-medium income taxpayers. Appointments will be on Wednesday and Thursdays at The View Teen Center from 9 – 11 a.m. starting on Wednesday, Feb. 5 and ending Thursday, April 11. To book an appointment, contact the Front Desk in person or by calling 650-903-6330 starting on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025.

Initial and Refresher Driver Safety Courses are offered periodically throughout the year at the Mountain View Senior Center. Cost: $20 for AARP members; $25 for non-AARP members. Please pay on first day of course by check or cash only. Check is preferred. Credit cards are not accepted.

Renewal Course: March 17 from 4 - 8 p.m.

Initial Course: April 21 and April 22 from 4 - 8 p.m.
