*Explore Local Government Through the Spanish Language Civic Leadership Academy*

"City of Mountain View now accepting applications for the 2025 Academy"

*"Mountain View, Calif."*" — "The City of Mountain View is pleased to announce its 2025 Spanish Language Civic Leadership Academy, which will get underway in March 2025. This free, 10-week-long program is designed to engage and empower Spanish-speaking residents who are interested in becoming more involved in their local government and community. Applications for the Academy are now being accepted.

This program is open to all Spanish-speaking residents of Mountain View who are interested in learning about city services, the budget process, volunteer opportunities, and ways to get involved in local decision-making. The Academy also prepares individuals to serve on City Council advisory bodies.

"The Spanish Language Civic Leadership Academy provides an opportunity to connect with our Spanish-speaking residents and equip them with the knowledge and resources necessary to become active, informed participants in Mountain View," said Mayor Pat Showalter. "This is the sixth time we have offered this program. We have been so impressed by the contributions of previous class members. I want to thank everyone in advance for the time they will invest in this program. You will find it very rewarding."

Each session is led by staff from City departments and includes information on each department’s core service function, major activities, programs and project overview. The program also features interactive exercises and group discussion. Child care for up to 15 children, ages 7 and older, is available to Academy participants on a first come, first served basis.

Details about the 2025 Spanish Language Civic Leadership Academy:


* Meets every week on Wednesdays, 5:30-8:30 p.m. March 26 – June 11, 2025 (10-week-long program plus graduation ceremony)
* Space is limited to 30 participants.
* Program is provided in English and Spanish.

* Applications are being accepted through Friday, March 7.

This is the sixth year that the City is hosting the Academy for Spanish-speaking residents. In spring 2022, the City expanded the program with a Chinese Language Civic Leadership Academy for Chinese-speaking community members. The Academy launched in 2017 with 170 Spanish- and Chinese-speaking participants completing the program to date.
