Black History Month
________________________________________________________________________
black history month
At Tuesday night's Kent City Council meeting, I proclaimed February as Black History Month in the City of Kent! Special thanks to Gwen Allen-Carston, Kent businesswoman and KBAC president for accepting the proclamation.
Black History Month serves as a celebration of the accomplishments, contributions, and culture of Black Americans throughout the history of our nation.
It's a time to recognize that across the generations, countless Black Americans have demonstrated profound moral courage and resilience to help shape this country for the better.
We must continually celebrate these accomplishments and carry on that legacy while advancing the cause of civil rights, dignity, opportunity, and inclusion, which strengthens our families and communities.

At Tuesday night's Kent city council meeting, our Conservation Coordinator Tony Donati recognized 2023 adopt a street/spot volunteers.
This is a year-round partnership between the city and neighborhood groups, businesses, and residents to help reduce litter and keep Kent's public spaces clean and beautiful.
With over 320 miles of streets and sidewalks, community partners are needed to pitch in to pick up!
We appreciate the efforts of the community to keep spaces clean in the interest of public health and wellness.
