City of Toronto and Na-Me-Res to celebrate the opening of new affordable rental homes for Indigenous men experiencing homelessness

On Monday, Mayor Olivia Chow and Councillor Chris Moise (Toronto Centre) will join the Native Men’s Residence (Na-Me-Res) and MOD Developments Inc. (MOD) to mark the opening of 218 Carlton St, an affordable rental property owned by the City of Toronto that includes nine studio units for marginalized Indigenous men in Toronto.

Date: Monday, July 22
Time: 10 a.m.
Location: 218 Carlton St.

The event will include a ribbon-cutting and official remarks.

Formerly used as an office space, the property at 218 Carlton St. was acquired by the City as part of a Section 37 Agreement (community benefits charge) with MOD related to the redevelopment of 55 - 61 Charles St. E. Fully renovated by MOD and transferred to the City for use as permanent affordable rental housing, 218 Carlton St., given the Anishnawbe name Migize Pazaagwii Gamik (Uplifting Place of the Bald Eagle), will be operated by Na-Me-Res to provide safe, secure, affordable homes for Indigenous men experiencing homelessness.
