今回は、市内で見られる「どんぐり」を数種類ご紹介します。
「どんぐり」とは、ブナ科コナラ属等の樹木の実です。栄養豊富で、冬の間の動物たちの貴重な食料にもなります。また、帽子のような部分は、殻斗（かくと）と言います。
どんぐりといえば、丸くて可愛らしい形を思い浮かべますが、この形には、理由があります。みなさんご存知「どんぐりころころ」の歌にもあるとおり、樹から落下した後に、どんぐりの実（種）をできるだけ遠くへ転がして、より広範囲に種をまくための戦略と言われています。
また、一括りにどんぐりといっても、色々な種類があります。
みなさんが思い浮かべる、どんぐりはありましたでしょうか。
少し涼しくなり、外出しやすい気候になってきましたので、ぜひ、色々な種類のどんぐりを探してみてはいかがでしょうか。
