Third Snapshot of 2024 Qualifying APM Participant (QP) Status and APM Participation Data Now Available in QPP Participation Status Tool

On *December 4*, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) updated its Quality Payment Program Participation Status Tool based on the third snapshot of Alternative Payment Model (APM) data. The third snapshot includes data from Medicare Part B claims with dates of service between *January 1, 2024, and August 31, 2024*. 

The tool includes 2024 Qualifying APM Participant (QP) status [ https://qpp.cms.gov/apms/advanced-apms ] and Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) APM participation status.

To learn more about how CMS determines QP and the APM participation status for each snapshot [ https://qpp.cms.gov/apms/apm-determination-periods ], please visit the QPP website [ https://qpp.cms.gov ].

*What Action Do I Need to Take?*


* Log into the QPP Portal and verify your Entity information.
* If your information is inaccurate on the QPP website, contact the QPP Helpdesk at QPP@cms.hhs.gov.

*How Do I Check My QP or APM Participation Status? *

To view your QP or APM participation status:


* Visit the QPP Participation Status Tool [ https://qpp.cms.gov/participation-lookup ].
* Enter your 10-digit National Provider Identifier (NPI).

*What Does QP Status Mean? *

If you qualify as a QP, this means you are:


* Eligible for the 1.88% APM [ https://qpp.cms.gov/apms/overview ] incentive payment;
* Eligible for APM-specific rewards; and
* Exempt from participating in MIPS [ https://qpp.cms.gov/mips/how-eligibility-is-determined ].

Reminder: Register for the December 11 MVP Development and Maintenance Annual Webinar

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is hosting a webinar on *Wednesday, December 11 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. ET* to provide an overview of Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Value Pathways (MVPs) development and maintenance for the 2025 performance year of the Quality Payment Program.

During the webinar, CMS subject matter experts will:


* Review key dates related to MVPs;
* Summarize the criteria for MVP development and candidate submission criteria;
* Outline the process for submitting an MVP candidate for consideration using the CMS MVP Submission Template; and
* Outline the process for providing feedback requests as a part of MVP maintenance.

Following the presentation, CMS will answer questions from attendees as time permits.

Upcoming MIPS Important Dates and Deadlines

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) would like to remind clinicians of important upcoming Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) dates and deadlines: 

*December 31, 2024* 


* Last day of the 2024 performance year, after which clinicians will no longer be able to collect data for the year. 
* 2025 performance year virtual group election period [ https://qpp.cms.gov/mips/virtual-group-participation?py=2025 ] closes at 11:59 p.m. ET, after which prospective applicants will no longer be able to submit, revise, or retract their elections. 

* QPP Exception Application window closes at 8 p.m. ET for MIPS eligible clinicians [ https://qpp.cms.gov/mips/how-eligibility-is-determined ] reporting traditional MIPS [ https://qpp.cms.gov/mips/traditional-mips ], an MVP [ https://qpp.cms.gov/mips/mips-value-pathways ], or the APM Performance Pathway (APP) [ https://qpp.cms.gov/mips/apm-performance-pathway ] who want to submit a MIPS Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances Exception Application [ https://qpp.cms.gov/mips/exception-applications?py=2024 ] or MIPS Promoting Interoperability Performance Category Hardship Exception Application [ https://qpp.cms.gov/mips/exception-applications?py=2024 ] for the 2024 performance year.

* Payment adjustments based on PY 2023 go into effect.
