City of Kenmore Business Endorsement [ https://www.kenmorewa.gov/business/business-registration-licensing ]

*Important message from our Development Services/Permitting Department:
*Since January 1, 2024, the City of Kenmore requires all businesses to register for a city business license with the Washington Department of Revenue (DOR) to engage in business activities within city limits. This includes the following:

* Construction companies (e.g., general contractors, specialty contractors, builders, developers, special inspectors, etc.)
* Consultants working in the city (e.g., architects, civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, arborists, biologists, surveyors, etc.)
* Project management companies
* Plumbers and HVAC contractors
* Demolition and excavation companies
* Electricians
* Painters
* Sign companies
* Property management companies
* Real estate brokers
* Landlords
* Cleaning companies

*Beginning January 1, 2025, permit application approval will be delayed until this requirement has been met.*  Please review the information below and add Kenmore to your DOR business license no later than December 31, 2024.

*How Do I Apply?*

Login to your SecureAccess Washington SAW account and add Kenmore to your endorsements. DOR’s website has step-by-step instructions on how to add a city endorsement.

*What’s the Deadline?
*The deadline was January 1, 2024. However, because the program is new, we’ve provided a grace prior for businesses to register. However, the end of the grace period is approaching – by December 31, 2024, your business must be registered.

*What if I don’t Register?
*According to KMC 5.105.110, a violation constitutes a civil infraction and is subject to a $100 fine. Additionally, if your business is not register by December 31, 2024, permits may not be issued by the department. Please register as soon as possible to avoid potential delays.

*Need Help?*

First, use the step-by-step instructions to add a city endorsement [ https://dor.wa.gov/manage-business/my-dor-help/renew-or-update-business-license#Addcity ] from the DOR website. If you have questions on how to add the endorsement, contact DOR at (360) 705-6741. If you have questions for the City of Kenmore, contact Teresa McAllister, tmcallister@kenmorewa.gov.

Automated Photo Enforcement Expands in Kenmore [ https://links-2.govdelivery.com/CL0/https:%2F%2Fwww.kenmorewa.gov%2Fgovernment%2Fdepartments%2Fpublic-works%2Fengineering%2Fautomated-photo-enforcement/2/0101019259568b85-cb54e031-0623-401e-a305-30dca178e3c0-000000/NNhgd6Q2nQ4IkxPGlkh3IQjHvd-Eq41Jxx89oGP4qfc=373 ]

One pillar of our Economic Development Approach [ https://www.kenmorewa.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/2532/638143220645670000 ] in Kenmore is "Be a well-run city". This includes operating a safe city for our businesses and community members. Kenmore Automated Photo Enforcement (KAPE) [ https://www.kenmorewa.gov/government/departments/public-works/engineering/automated-photo-enforcement ] is one example of a safety implementation which will help bolster economic development in Kenmore. The City Council recently voted to expand the KAPE program, initially launched last year. This expansion introduces several key changes [ https://links-2.govdelivery.com/CL0/https:%2F%2Fwww.kenmorewa.gov%2FHome%2FComponents%2FNews%2FNews%2F389%2F301/1/0101019259568b85-cb54e031-0623-401e-a305-30dca178e3c0-000000/OKdc_fR0A0YDjGxRk9S5-3n6pG7rb1jkLpo4liGe5Wc=373 ] aimed at enhancing traffic safety.

Photo enforcement will now apply 24/7 in the Kenmore Elementary School Zone on 73rd Avenue and also the Arrowhead Elementary school zone on Juanita Drive. This means drivers can receive a ticket anytime they are exceeding the regular speed limit of 30 mph, even when school zones are inactive. The existing 20 mph limit will still be enforced when schools are in session. A warning period for the new enforcement measures will start on November 2. During this period, drivers exceeding the speed limit will receive warnings instead of fines. Fines for speeding violations in these school zones will begin on January 1, 2025.

The City Council also approved adding photo enforcement to the Inglemoor High School zone. This new enforcement location does not yet have a confirmed timeline, but a warning period is planned to begin in early 2025.
