Toronto Paramedic Services celebrate the graduation of 27 new Operations and Communications Centre recruits

At a graduation ceremony this afternoon, Toronto Paramedic Services (TPS) Chief Bikram Chawla and other City of Toronto representatives welcomed 27 new frontline TPS Operations and Communications Centre staff members, who have completed comprehensive TPS orientation and training programs.

The graduates, including 21 new Primary Care Paramedics and six Emergency Telecommunicators, join the dedicated team of TPS professionals who continue to provide exceptional pre-hospital care to Toronto's residents and visitors.

TPS is staffed by skilled paramedics who provide 24-hour pre-hospital emergency care that may be the difference between life and death for ill or injured individuals. The TPS Central Ambulance Communications Centre is the critical link between the community and paramedic-based health care. Emergency Medical Dispatchers and Call Takers provide immediate life support instructions using an accredited call triage system and modern telecommunications technology that ensure people in need have timely access to emergency medical resources.

More information is available on the City’s TPS webpage: https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/accountability-operations-customer-service/city-administration/staff-directory-divisions-and-customer-service/toronto-paramedic-services/.
