In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Mayor’s Hispanic Heritage Committee (https://www.tampa.gov/hispanic-heritage-committee) collected school supplies for Alexander Elementary School, a predominantly Hispanic (95%), economically disadvantaged school. The committee was proud to donate over three times the amount of these much-needed supplies as last year!

Hispanic Heritage Celebration Poster Contest

The Mayor’s Hispanic Heritage Committee would like to invite students grades K-12 to participate in the 1st Annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration Poster Contest (https://www.tampa.gov/hispanic-heritage-committee/hispanic-heritage-celebration-poster-contest) . Posters MUST include the theme, "Hispanic Heritage Celebration", to be considered. Entries are due September 3rd, 2021.

Tampa Town Hall Virtual Series

Community members are invited to join the Mayor's administration and City Council members for an update on ongoing initiatives and proposed projects throughout Tampa's neighborhoods. The series is underway now, with three meetings left:

August 23, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. | District 6
August 24, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. | District 7
August 30, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. | District 4

National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) Building Innovation 2021 Virtual Conference

City of Tampa Construction Services Center Manager & Chief Building Official, JC Hudgison will serve as the US panelist to discuss “Climate Adaptation, Mitigation, and the Role of Building Codes.” Learn more and register for the conference (https://www.buildinginnovation.org/) .

Jobs of the Week

The Development & Growth Management Department is seeking candidates for two open positions:
* The Professional Plans Reviewer (https://www.jobapscloud.com/Tampa/sup/bulpreview.asp?R1=210720&R2=267004&R3=001) will perform technical reviews on professionally prepared documents for all proposed residential and commercial construction projects and for the review of residential and commercial site plans for compliance with transportation, landscape, stormwater, and zoning codes as required, as they relate to site construction issues.
* The Forester Examiner (https://jobapscloud.com/Tampa/sup/bulpreview.asp?R1=210818&R2=001023&R3=003) will lead and participate in technical inspections to enforce municipal tree, landscape, and site clearing regulations and ordinances. Tasks include some fieldwork, extensive public contact, and training of technical inspections personnel.
