About the family van I drove for 20 years.

I don't know much about cars so I came here to ask for your opinions.　

I bought this family van when my child was born and have been driving it for many years with many memories of scratches and stickers in the car and many repairs.　It has almost 200,000 miles in 20 years.　

Even the dents that my child hit when he was a rebellious child are now a precious thing to me, and even after my child left for college out of state, I have continued to drive the van with great care and respect.　

The other day it finally stopped working and I took it to a repair shop with a tow truck.　I was told that even if I repaired it this time, there was a possibility that it would be in trouble again and that it would be better not to repair it.　I am now asking for a quote, but they said that if they have to repair it, they will have to replace the engine first, and possibly other things as well.　He said that replacing the engine might be about $4,000, or at worst $15,000.　That's what I was told.　I am stuck at home with no energy to do anything for a few days.　

I asked for a quote this time because I am willing to repair it and use it for a few more years even if it costs $15,000, but everyone around me is 100% sure that I should not do that.　

It is hard for me to think about my children leaving Hawaii one by one and finally even the van will be gone.　It is hard to know that it will be just my husband and I. I am very emotional right now.　I am very emotional right now.　I can't think calmly.　It is strange that I am so obsessed with cars when I can't drive.　

I would appreciate your opinions.　If you were in this situation, would you still not repair it ？ or would you take the memories no matter how much money you have to spend ？ please.
