Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock is a two-act musical based on the hit movie. It follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight–A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s headmistress finding out?

Lloyd Webber produced the stage musical on Broadway and in the West End, penning 14 new numbers for the show, which additionally features all of the original songs from the movie. The show is a loving testimony to the transforming power of music.

In this special evening, critically acclaimed Grammy-winning instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter Meshell Ndegeocello, along with her band and guests, shares her resonant, ever-evolving exploration of American novelist, playwright, essayist, poet, and activist, James Baldwin. Inspired by the way Baldwin empowered others through the written word, Ndegeocello uses music as her vehicle to engage others in the challenge and promise of Baldwin’s powerful body of work.


Throughout her decades long career, Ndegeocello has eschewed genre for originality, celebrity for longevity, and musical trends for musical truths. Fans have come to expect the unexpected and followed her on sojourns into soul, R&B, jazz, hip-hop, rock, all bound by the search for love, justice, respect, and resolution. Those sonic investigations have defied and redefined the industry expectations of women, queer artists, and black music for over 30 years, and she remains one of few women who write the music, sing the songs, and lead the band.

San Fermin songwriter Ellis Ludwig-Leone writes songs that shift seamlessly between joy and dread, panic and euphoria. Since the band’s beginnings in 2013, San Fermin’s ambitious scope has taken them across a variety of genres, attracting an eclectic group of collaborators that reflect LudwigLeone’s own wide-ranging musical background. San Fermin rose to early acclaim on the strength of their self-titled debut, which bandleader Ellis Ludwig-Leone had initially envisioned as a one-off featuring more than 20 collaborators. NPR hailed the album as “one of the year's most surprising, ambitious, evocative and moving records,” while Pitchfork called breakout single “Sonsick” “deliriously infectious.” Buoyed by the record’s success, Ludwig-Leone put together a full-time band and hit the road, performing everywhere from the Tiny Desk to Lollapalooza and sharing bills with the likes of alt-J, Courtney Barnett, the National, and St. Vincent. In the years to come, the group would go on to release three similarly lauded albums, prompting The New Yorker to celebrate their “knack for simultaneously expressing beauty and crisis,” and Rolling Stone to declare them “masters of highbrow chamber pop.

Written in the topsy-turvy days following two different breakups, San Fermin’s poignant new album, Arms, is a testament to the band’s ability to transform pain and isolation into catharsis and healing. The songs are more minimalist than ever before, stripping away much of the sonic ornamentation the Brooklyn eight-piece has come to be known for in favor of a more raw, direct sound reflective of the album’s candid, plainspoken lyrics. The result is a deeply moving, compassionate collection, one that moves from anger and disappointment to clarity and acceptance as it balances devastation and hope in equal measure.

Steve Kilbey is the singer, bassist and songwriter for the Australian band The Church, who formed in Sydney in 1980, and he has gone on to release over 30 albums.

More than 30 years on, Things of Stone and Wood have had two top 10 albums in Australia, a top 10 single and five top 50 hits, plus a chart hit in Germany. The band has also won an ARIA Award, and singer Greg Arnold was proclaimed Songwriter of the Year at the APRA Awards.

Killer Queen formed back in June 1993. Their first public shows were at London University, following in the footsteps of the real Queen, who had played their first shows there 21 years earlier. By 1995, Killer Queen’s UK popularity had grown to such an extent they secured a residency in London’s Strand Theatre, attracting nationwide BBC coverage – the first tribute to have a show in the West End. Even though the band had no connection to Queen officially, their reputation continued growing both in the UK and abroad. In 1999, they returned from a tour of and Europe and Russia for an awards ceremony in Leicester Square, hosted by Suggs from Madness. He announced they had won the award for “Worldwide Best Tribute Band.”

“One of the more exciting young tenor saxophonists today” says The New York Times. Twice Grammy-nominated for Best Improvised Jazz solo, saxophonist and composer Melissa Aldana has garnered international recognition for her visionary work as a band leader, as well as her bold and often meditative compositions. Signed to Blue Note Records, she released the acclaimed "12 Stars" on the storied label in 2022. In naming her earlier "Visions" among the best albums of 2019 for NPR Music, critic Nate Chinen wrote that Aldana “has the elusive ability to balance technical achievement against a rich emotional palette.”

Yotam Silberstein, one of the leading jazz guitarists of his generation, has gained acclaim for a sound rich in bebop and blues as well as musical folklore from South America, North Africa and the Middle East, giving his music an increasingly global thrust. His mature compositional gift and gripping interpretive finesse are vividly represented on his 2022 release Universos and his 2020 outing with Argentine multi-instrumentalist and composer Carlos “Negro” Aguirre titled En el jardín. He is a member of the John Patitucci Trio (heard on the acclaimed album Irmãos de Fé), has toured extensively with legendary Brazilian singer-songwriter Ivan Lins, and played with characteristic fire and taste on Monty Alexander’s GRAMMY-nominated Harlem-Kingston Express Live! as well as David Sanborn & Marcus Miller’s Time and the River. He has worked in bands with some of the greatest figures in jazz including George Coleman, Charles McPherson, Jimmy Heath, James Moody and Roy Hargrove, and has toured with his own groups all over the world in the most prestigious festivals and venues including the Tokyo, Umbria and North Sea Jazz Festivals as well as Kennedy Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center and more.

The Joshua Redman Quintet is an all-star band featuring some of Redman’s lifelong friends and partners in music. The Redman Quintet is Redman in his element, surrounded by some of jazz’s finest. The rapport, talent, and musicianship that exists between these artists is truly something to be witnessed – a testament to the great heights of a life dedicated to the craft.

The World-Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra will perform their greatest hits, including “In The Mood”, “Chattanooga Choo Choo”, “American Patrol”, “A String Of Pearls”, “Little Brown Jug”, “Pennsylvania 6-5000”, Tuxedo Junction”, and of course their theme song “Moonlight Serenade” as they continue their national tour. The 17 member orchestra, their lead singers, and vocal group will perform their catalog of big band classics just the way they would have over 80 years ago when Glenn Miller stood in front of his band. It is a show that continues to transport audiences back in time and is as nostalgic as it is exciting.
