*2024 King County Flood Management Plan Approved*

On Sept. 17, 2024, the Metropolitan King County Council approved the 2024 King County Flood Management Plan. This plan was developed with input from community members, local governments, and partners through events, public workshops, meetings, online surveys and the Engagement Hub [ https://publicinput.com/FloodPlan.English#0 ]. Your feedback helped shape a plan that will help our communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from floods.

*Preparing for the Future*

The Flood Plan sets new policies for reducing flood risks along rivers, creeks, and shorelines. It recommends actions that will also keep transportation routes safe, protect natural habitats, preserve green spaces, and support jobs. The plan acknowledges that climate change will affect future flooding and outlines steps to prepare for these changes.

In the coming weeks, the Flood Plan webpage [ https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/dnrp/nature-recreation/environment-ecology-conservation/flood-services/flood-management-plan/about-plan ] will be updated with the final adopted version of the plan and other resources.
