*2025 - 2026 Biennial Budget Up For Adoption November 25
*On Monday evening [ https://kenmore.civicweb.net/document/259599/ ], the City Council will consider final adoption of the 2025 - 2026 Biennial Budget. The 239-page proposed budget [ https://www.kenmorewa.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/3394/638639023115400000 ] is ambitious and full of meaningful and important work, including a plan for spending the remaining $2 million of the one-time “Special Projects” funding indirectly made possible by the pandemic-era American Rescue Plan Act. The City Council held a series of budget discussions throughout October and November, including a public hearing on November 12. A second public hearing on the budget will be held during the meeting on Monday night. There's no question that more severe winter weather could be on its way. Residents are urged to stay informed and take necessary precautions, such as stocking up on essential supplies, ensuring emergency kits are ready, and staying updated on weather alerts. *Property Owners Urged to Apply for Tax Relief if Property is Damaged By Windstorms
*In response to the “bomb cyclone” storm that ripped through the region this week, the King County Department of Assessments has posted an online form [ https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/assessor/buildings-and-property/property-taxes/tax-relief/destroyed-property-relief ] so owners who experienced significant damage from the windstorm can apply for property tax relief. State law allows taxpayers to apply for property tax relief if their property was damaged or destroyed by recent windstorms. Property damaged or destroyed by something beyond the property owner's control is eligible for a reduction of assessed value, resulting in lower property taxes. *Have EBT benefits and lost food during the recent power outages?* There is a one time resource to replace benefits for food loss due to power loss/flood/disaster. *Habitat Restoration & Planting Event November 23
*Join Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group in partnership with the City of Kenmore, Confluence Environmental Company, and Sno-King Watershed Council for planting and habitat restoration at of ƛ̕ax̌ʷadis (Tl' awh-ah-dees) Park (7515 NE 175th Street) on Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There are hundreds of native plants to get in the ground to help keep the habitat in the park healthy.
