We’re always more than happy to brag about our accolades and top rankings we get as a city. But we have to admit there are some titles we love more than others. ** Anything is paw-sible if you work together
------------------------------------------------------------

It’s always a great day when a new company launches, especially one that helps create social and environmental change in our community. This week we celebrated Block n' Lock, a company that makes mortar-less interlocking concrete blocks, helping lower construction costs.

This local company, located in the Lorna Doone neighborhood, is also a RALLY alumnus. In partnership with the City of Orlando, RALLY is a social enterprise accelerator, with the goal of assisting entrepreneurs transform their ideas and existing work into sustainable ventures that create positive social change and new job opportunities.

Block n’ Lock hopes to use this new block technology to build low-cost structures and homes in the community. As one of their first clients, we’re excited to incorporate their technology to create a garden structure at one of our urban farms, aligning with our broader goals of sustainability and food resilience.

We can’t wait to see the impact of Block 'n Lock in our community and beyond.

** Doggone it - there’s another one out there

Look, we know the “be prepared for hurricanes” messaging is old and tired. However, it will not stop the storms from forming and aiming themselves straight at us. So, maybe just get prepared and then you can ignore us.

Bonus points – until September 6, it’s still a sales tax holiday on needed hurricane/disaster prep supplies. So, if you’ve been thinking about those tools or generator, or just need to restock on batteries, now’s a good time.
