Over 40 years as community medicine physician Grew up watching her father's dedication to the medical and emotional care of his patients and their families. After graduating from high school in Japan, he went to college in California to study psychology and art. During her first year of college, she was confused by her new surroundings, so she sought counseling as a client for the first time at the counseling center on her college campus. At that time, she experienced the importance of mental health care and support, and became interested in counseling.
After graduating from college, she returned to Japan and worked for a foreign securities firm in Tokyo for four years before coming back to the U.S. She completed her master's degree in clinical psychology at a graduate school in 1997. After numerous internships, she received her certification as a Certified Clinical Psychologist ( LMFT-Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist ) in the state of CA in 2004.
Past clinical experience includes Domestic Violence Shelters, Social Service Agencies, Elementary and High Schools, and C A State University Counseling Center. She currently has a private counseling office in San Jose where she works with clients of all ages, from children to the elderly, in both Japanese and English. She specializes in depression, worry, and anxiety. Support for study abroad, expatriation, employment, and marriage enrichment and transition in different cultures in the United States. School related bullying, friend problems, and general stress in children and students. She is also experienced in helping couples experiencing infertility and women experiencing miscarriage, stillbirth, and postpartum depression. As a longtime artist and painter, she is one of the few Bay Area counselors able to incorporate the healing power of art into her psychotherapy practice.
