The Kochi Prefectural Museum of History and Folklore opened in May 1991 in Okahoyozan, Nankoku City, as a comprehensive museum of history, with the hope of contributing to the promotion of the culture of the people of the prefecture and creating a unique locality that makes the most of traditions, by studying the footsteps of the people of Tosa and passing the results of this research on to future generations ・

In May 1991, the museum opened in Okahoyoyama, Nankoku City.
The museum collects and preserves materials in the fields of history ・ archaeology ・ and folklore in the prefecture, and conducts research and surveys, the results of which are widely exhibited through comprehensive exhibitions, special exhibitions, lectures, courses, exciting work ( children's history classes ),

Also, Okahoyoyama ( Okouyama ), where the museum is located, is the site of the castle of the Chosokabe clan in the Warring States period (, a national historic site ・ and the site of Okahoyo Castle ), and has been maintained as Okahoyoyama Historical Park where visitors can learn while walking.
In addition, a "turret" has been set up at the Okatoyo Castle Ruins in conjunction with the "Shikoku Kochi Bakumatsu Ishin Expo" ( until the end of February 2019 ). Don't miss the view from the "turret".
