Art classes are held at Walnut with a different theme each month. This creative and very popular art class is taught by an art teacher who graduated from an art college.

Annual Kurumi Sports Day ！ Students, parents, and Kurumi staff enjoy uniquely Japanese sports competitions together under the blue sky ！ Actively contributing to the bonding of the local Japanese community. At the end of the day, the BBQ makes our stomachs very happy ！.

Every year, students can experience Japanese seasonal events and handmade cultural experiences such as making handmade otsukimi dumplings, ehomaki rolls, and miso paste. Seasonal events are combined with crafts and parties, which are enjoyed with classmates ・ and parents. （ The photo shows making dumplings for moon viewing ）.

In January, Kurumi students experience making rice cakes using a pestle and mortar. All Kurumi students experience rice cake pounding, which is not an easy thing to do when living in the U.S. Afterwards, they actually taste the rice cake. This is a very popular hands-on learning experience.

Once a month, we invite a guest speaker to meet and learn from professionals about their profession and history. (Photo shows a professional who has been producing hammers by hand for generations in Japan, using a demonstration to learn the differences between Japanese hammers and American hammers ）.

At Kurumi, calligraphy is part of the curriculum for the New Year. Students create New Year's cards and calendars using a brush and India ink.

Kurumi offers abacus ・ calculation class once a week for 50 minutes. We stimulate the right brain and develop "usable" calculation skills so that students can not only play the abacus, but also do mental arithmetic.

Free weekly online parent/child classes from February 9 through March 30.

At Kurumi, we use handmade teaching materials and textbooks appropriate to the age and level of each individual student to develop reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. We also offer our own Kanji test and writing books.
