5:30 p.m., County of Kaua‘i, Anahola brush fire notice

Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters continue to respond to a brush fire in Anahola, mauka of Kūhiō Highway, across the post office.

Crews with the Kaiakea Fire Station, Rescue 3, Tender 1, Air 1, Air 2, Department of Public Works, private landowners, and the on-duty Battalion Chief are responding to the incident. Personnel with the Kapa‘a Fire Station is enroute.

The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency is currently at level 2 activation and continues to monitor and support the incident. 

At this time, there are no road closures and no homes are threatened. 

Fire officials estimate the size of the fire to be 6 to 10 acres.

Updates will be posted when more information becomes available.
