Spo-GOMI is an abbreviation of "sport garbage pickup," a sport in which teams compete against each other for points awarded according to the amount and type of garbage picked up in a given area within a set time limit. It was born in Japan in 2008 under the slogan, "Garbage pickup is a sport ！.

The appeal of Spo-GOMI is that not only is litter eliminated through competition, but anyone can win, regardless of age or gender, depending on teamwork, strategy, and tactics.

This tournament is being held for the first time in order to reduce the amount of litter that flows into the ocean and to bring attention to the problem of marine litter, as it is becoming an increasingly serious problem worldwide.

The winners of the qualifying competitions, which will be held in approximately 20 countries around the world, will represent their country and receive a ticket to the World Cup, scheduled to be held in Tokyo （ in November 2023.

There is no age limit and everyone is welcome to participate for free.

We are proud to announce the Spogomi World Cup 2023 USA Stage! for a day of fun and environmental activism, participating in "Spogomi", a sport in which teams compete against each other for points The winning team will have the chance to represent the USA The winning team will have the chance to represent the USA in the World Cup scheduled to be held in Tokyo, Japan, from 19th to 23rd November 2023 (all travel/accommodations covered).

Location: Venice Beach
Schedule:
8:30 AM:. Registration
9:00 AM: Opening Ceremony (Main Stage)
9:30 AM to 10:30 AM: Cleanup at the beach (areas TBA)
10:30 AM to 11:30 PM: Trash weight calculation
11:30 PM: Award and Closing Ceremony (Main Stage)
12:00 PM: Event Close
Team Requirements:

Teams must consist of three members (sign up with your friends/family!)
All ages are welcome (at least one team member must be 18+ for participants under 12 with consent of a parent/guardian)
At least two team members must be an American citizen/residents (no visiting In the event of a large number of applicants, applications may be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
