Japan Gallery ： "Harmony of Artistry, Japanese Dolls and Traditional Crafts ～" （ Admission Free ） ～ "Kyugetsu" Dolls: A Gem of an Exhibition

Established over 180 years ago, Kyugetsu is a long-established doll wholesaler that continues to evolve while preserving tradition. The Japan Gallery will showcase a selection of the finest products that demonstrate the skill of Kyugetsu's craftsmen.

From November 14 （ Thursday ） to November 20 （ Wednesday ） at the Japan Gallery on the 7th floor of the Nippon Club, Kyugetsu, a long-established Japanese doll wholesaler with over 180 years in business, will hold an exhibition entitled "～ Harmony of Artistry, Japanese Dolls and Traditional Craft ～".

This exhibition will introduce traditional Japanese crafts, including dolls, through carefully selected masterpieces by Kyuzuki, which has been in business since the Edo period. Japanese dolls, made with traditional techniques rooted in various regions of Japan, such as foil, lacquer, dyeing, and weaving, are traditional crafts that are truly worthy of being called "harmony of artistry. In Japan, people have a tradition of giving dolls for celebratory occasions such as births and marriages, and dolls are more than just toys and ornaments; they have long been popular with people.

A wide variety of Japanese dolls will be on display, including Sekku dolls such as Hina and Gogatsu dolls, Oyama dolls that depict the graceful female form, and gorgeous Renjishi dolls based on classical performing arts.

In addition, look out for works created in collaboration with popular anime and movie characters, as well as with costume designers, which combine modern creative sensibilities with traditional techniques.

1 ： Harmony of Artistry, Japanese Dolls and Traditional Crafts
Traditional crafts including Japanese dolls using various traditional crafts with regional roots We will exhibit traditional crafts including Japanese dolls using various traditional crafts rooted in the local area.

2 ： Celebration Culture and Dolls
Dolls as lucky charms rooted in Japanese celebration culture as represented by Sekku, a seasonal festival.

3 ： Master Craftsmen and Traditional Crafts
We will introduce masterpieces of traditional crafts, including works by artists who are qualified as traditional craftsmen.

4 ： Tradition and Innovation
We will exhibit works that are a perfect fusion of modern creative sensibilities and traditional techniques, including works created in collaboration with popular anime and movie characters, as well as with costume designers.

5 ： Dolls as Folk Crafts
Dolls developed as folk crafts among other handicrafts, as well as other folk crafts and local toys rooted in the region. Materials for doll making will also be displayed.
