What is Kintsugi ? -------------------------------------------
Chipped or It is a technique of restoring chipped or broken pottery by gluing it with gold.
It was already discovered in Japan in the Jomon period ( 14,000 BC ~ 300 BC ).
The "acceptance of imperfection" taught through kintsugi derives from the philosophy of the tea ceremony, which finds beauty in mending broken things.
Kintsugi, the art of restoring and reviving treasured objects, is now gaining popularity. The process of kintsugi is fun and unique.
What is a Kintsugi Workshop ------------------------
Kintsugi techniques are demonstrated in an easy to understand manner.
The instructor will give you individual advice while you work on your piece.
This workshop is designed to introduce and enjoy simple kintsugi techniques. Synthetic resin is used instead of natural resin or pure gold. Handling lacquer and pure gold is very time-consuming. Therefore, it is not suitable for workshop experience. Synthetic resin dries quickly and is hypoallergenic. However, since an adhesive is used, please be careful with your mouth, food and drink to avoid accidental ingestion. Use at your own discretion. We assume no responsibility whatsoever.
This method is suitable for decorative and non-food ceramics.
Repaired ceramics are not suitable for use in dishwashers, microwave ovens, ovens or stoves.
Workshop includes materials as well as plates. If you would like to experience this at home, please purchase a kit.
Unique pieces will be available for you to enjoy that day.
