Help bring to life an expression of water purity and conservation through Japanese inspired Contemporary and Butoh dance.

Ranko Ogura’s “Water Pilgrimage” scheduled for May 4, 2019 in the NOH space is a journey through the divergent evolution in the relationship of all living beings to water, a concern to our communities everywhere.



In her latest work, “Water Pilgrimage,” Ranko Ogura, a Japanese-native who relocated to the Bay Area after a modern dance career in New York City, explores the divergent evolution in the
relationship of all living beings to water. Fusing Contemporary and Butoh dance, Ogura transforms three women’s bodies into the powerful, mystical and vital essence of water. The movement, enhanced by live female vocals, projections, and spoken word, catalyzes
a visceral response on a tangled journey through beauty and crisis, from the origins of life to a world at risk.

2年5ヶ月を経てようやくお目にかかれます。水の流れはゆっくりだったり激流だったり、あちこちぶつかりながら遠回りも随分ありましたが、ここに辿り着きました。

人間の体は７０％は水から出来ている。生命は水から誕生した。水と人間の繋がり、自然、宇宙。そして福島の原発事故、汚染。
