Protecting Nature’s Workhorses: Join the Pollinator Documentation Program
Birds, bats, bees, butterflies, beetles and other small mammals play a crucial role in the ecosystem. These pollinators are responsible for one out of every three bites of food consumed. They sustain the ecosystems and contribute to the production of natural resources by aiding in plant reproduction.
Protect these workhorses of nature by joining the Pollinator Documentation Program. You’ll document plant and pollinator species in Columbus Recreation and Parks’ 34 pollinator habitats using the iNaturalist app. This documentation will inform the conservation strategies and park maintenance needs. If you're interested in participating, sign up for the in-person training [ https://crpd.volunteerhub.com/vv2/event/5f2c18a9-b8f3-455c-a48d-5bd68b8445a6?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] on Thursday, May 30, from 6-7 p.m. at the McKnight Outdoor Education Center (3228 Indian Village Road, 43221). If you can't attend in person, opt for virtual training [ https://crpd.volunteerhub.com/vv2/event/22bdfb08-3633-4c6c-b209-e94008e796c0?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] and complete it at your convenience.
Together, you can protect the invaluable pollinators that ensure the health of the environment and food supply!
