-------- LOS ALTOS HIGH SCHOOL THREAT DEEMED A HOAX --------------------------

Los Altos, Calif. — November 12, 2024 — Today, at approximately 11:37
AM, the Los Altos Police Department responded to a report of a possible
threat against Los Altos High School. Following a thorough investigation,
officers determined the threat to be a hoax.

Late this morning, school administrators received notification that an
individual had made a threat against the high school through a crisis
center’s online chat platform.

Investigators quickly determined it a non-credible threat due to multiple
factors, including the nature of the content and communications, messages to
other local high schools, and the originating IP address.

Officers responded to the school immediately and treated the incident as
though the message was legitimate, conducting a comprehensive search of the
campus. Finding no credible threat, it was officially determined a hoax.

The Los Altos Police Department takes all threats seriously and is committed
to ensuring the safety and security of our schools and community.
