TUESDAY: Mayor Harrell Joins Local Partners to Celebrate the Groundbreaking of the New RapidRide J Line

*Seattle* – On Tuesday, October 8, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell will join the Seattle Department of Transportation, King County Metro, and other partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new RapidRide J Line. The RapidRide J Line, set to launch service in 2027, will enhance bus speed, access, reliability, and station amenities. This project will also install protected bike lanes, replace a water main, and repave Eastlake Ave E, bringing numerous upgrades that will create vital connections between Downtown Seattle and the neighborhoods of Belltown, South Lake Union, Eastlake, and the University District.
The RapidRide J Line project is a partnership between the City of Seattle and King County Metro. King County Metro will operate bus service as an upgraded RapidRide J Line from its current Route 70 bus service route. The RapidRide J Line is supported by the Federal Transit Administration’s Small Starts grant, the nine-year voter approved Levy to Move Seattle, and contributions from various partner agencies.
