** 6.2 Update on the City's Efforts to Comply with the State's Lead and Copper Rule Requirements
------------------------------------------------------------
Watch this part of the meeting (https://youtu.be/DlT-pfebg94?t=13091) . The Michigan Safe Drinking Water Act requires a final comprehensive inventory by Oct. 16, 2024. The water supply is also responsible to pay for the replacement of all water services that contain galvanized steel or lead material between the City’s water main and the water meter inside the home regardless of ownership. In order to meet these requirements, the City has been collecting water service material data inside the basement of buildings, where it enters through the foundation wall and by hydro excavating on both sides of the water service valve typically located adjacent to the public sidewalk. Staff has also been replacing impacted water services using both contractors and City maintenance crews.
