period extended to Dec. 16

LĪHU‘E – The Solid Waste Division has extended the application period for its Recycling and Waste Diversion Grant Program. Applications are now being accepted until 3:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 16.

Grant applications are being accepted for projects that increase recycling and waste diversion consistent with recommendations put forward in the most recent Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan Update https://www.kauai.gov/ISWMP [ https://www.kauai.gov/ISWMP?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ].

A total of $40,000 is available in the competitive grant program open to 501(c)3 non-profits.

Project examples include diverting food waste and recyclables from the landfill, reuse programs, upcycling projects, and other programs directly related to recycling and waste diversion.
