The Solid Waste Department is seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:
* The WTE Crane Operator (https://jobapscloud.com/Tampa/sup/bulpreview.asp?R1=210824&R2=387530&R3=001) ensures the safe operation of an overhead crane to maintain proper refuse flow to operating boilers and to manage the refuse pit. Duties are routine within prescribed limits but do require special knowledge of the equipment and waste to energy plant operations.
* The WTE Utility Operator I (https://jobapscloud.com/Tampa/sup/bulpreview.asp?R1=210820&R2=387525&R3=001) performs technical work in the operation and monitoring of designated waste to energy plant equipment to maintain safe, efficient, and continuous plant operations. Duties will typically require climbing ladders, stairs and catwalks, operating fire extinguishing equipment, exposure to large machinery, and confined space entry.

Liquid oxygen is currently in very high demand, however, at local hospitals due to the surge in COVID-19 cases. In a press release, the Tampa Water Department said it will now change its primary disinfection method to chlorine and will continue to use chloramine (a mix of ammonia and chlorine) for secondary disinfection as usual.
