Join us for a series of community conversations and share your priorities for the Greater Maple Valley/Cedar River Subarea Plan.

The Department of Local Services is hosting a series of community conversations to kick-off the second phase of community engagement to develop the Greater Maple Valley/Cedar River Subarea Plan. 

We invite community members who live, work, and play in the subarea to join the conversations on topics including land use and zoning, environment, transportation, and more.  


* *February 19* - Equity/Vision & Principles
* *March 5* - Environment/Parks, Open Space, & Cultural Resources
* *March 19* - Economic Development/Housing & Human Services
* *April 2* - Land Use & Zoning/Services & Utilities
* *April 16* - Transportation

All conversations will be held at the Hobart Community Church from 5:30-7:00PM.

About the plan

The Department of Local Services is creating a subarea plan to help guide development and investments for the next 20 years in the rural Greater Maple Valley/Cedar River subarea. Planners are working with community members to develop a vision and draft policies to help the community achieve that vision. The goal is equitable improvements to the quality of life for everyone who lives, works, and plays in this area. 

Since early 2024, County planners have been collecting information about the area. Your ideas and input are critical. 

The area covered by this plan lies in rural areas east of Renton and Kent and north of Covington, Maple Valley, and Black Diamond. It extends east to the border with Kittitas County.
