We’ve Completed Retrofits on the Delridge Pedestrian Bridge

April 4, 2025

Construction crews have finished the work on the Delridge Pedestrian Bridge. The seismic retrofits to help this bridge better withstand earthquakes are now complete!

Here’s the major improvements we’ve made to the bridge: 


* Wrapped parts of the bridge in carbon fiber to make it stronger.
* Applied surface sealant to increase safety and reduce future maintenance.
* Added supports to the ramps to help them last longer and stay safer during an earthquake.
* Replaced concrete and reinforcing in the bridge structure to provide better support.
* Upgraded the handrails for better stability and safety.

The Delridge Pedestrian Bridge provides a safer and more accessible way to cross Delridge Way SW. The retrofitted bridge deck has been strengthened, and the handrails have been upgraded for added safety
