See Below on How Participants can be Entered to Win a $250 Gift Card! Highway 101 is the busiest corridor in San Mateo County and is essential for getting people and goods where they need to go. The corridor includes many types of transportation connecting the community, including travel by foot, car, bus, bicycle, train and ferry. The San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) envisions 101 as an interconnected corridor that serves the needs of all travelers in San Mateo County, no matter how they choose to travel. To help achieve this vision, the TA is driving forward the 101 Corridor Connect program, a collaborative effort to improve safety, connectivity, sustainability, and inclusivity along US 101. As part of this program the SMCTA is advancing two key initiatives: Mid-County Multimodal Strategy: Enhancing mobility options within a mile of the highway. Active 101: Prioritizing projects to improve walking, biking, and transit crossings within a quarter mile of US 101. The community will have the opportunity to review a list of projects along the US 101 corridor and provide feedback on which projects align with their needs. Once completed, this Plan will provide a roadmap for planning, constructing, and implementing infrastructure improvement projects at critical locations near U.S 101. SMCTA Needs Your Feedback! Share your thoughts and priorities by Nov. 29, 2024! Visit the Mid-County Multimodal Strategy to complete the Online Survey and drop a marker on the map to provide feedback on where travel conditions can be improved. Explore the Active 101 voting tool and get 10 points to "spend" on proposed projects. This helps SMCTA identify priority projects which would be advanced to a conceptual design effort. Eight to 10 projects across the north, mid, and south portions of San Mateo County will be advanced for conceptual design. Participants in this interactive online exercise will be entered to win a $250 gift card. Safe Routes to School: Safety Improvements for Bus Loading Zones The City of San Mateo is providing 44 new bus parking only signs to 21 public elementary, middle and high schools across San Mateo. The aim of this effort, which is being led by the City's Safe Routes to School program, is to help ensure that students riding the bus can more safely get on and off the bus by more clearly designating bus parking zones. Many of our students rely on school buses and local SamTrans school bus routes to get to and from school every day. As buses arrive at our local schools, bus drivers and school staff regularly report that the drop off/pick up zones they rely on to safely load and unload kids are blocked by other cars. Humboldt Bike Lanes Post-Installation Review Community Meeting The City is facilitating a community meeting on the Humboldt Street Bike Lanes on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 6-8 p.m. at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center Assembly Room. City staff will provide a brief presentation, then host small breakout group discussions where community members will have the opportunity to share their input. The feedback collected in this meeting will go towards a future meeting with City Council to decide on the future of the Humboldt Street bike lanes. Dinner will be provided, and staff will offer a kids activity area for parents who bring their children to the event. Read more about the City's Bike Lanes Project and 2020 Bicycle Master Plan here.
