City of Fremont Notice of Public Hearing: Winter Code Update

The City of Fremont is considering amending various chapters within Fremont's Municipal Code [ https://www.codepublishing.com/CA/Fremont/ ]—Title 2 (Administration and Finance), Title 8 (Health and Safety), Title 17 (Subdivisions), and Title 18 (Planning and Zoning)—and related amendments to the Warm Springs/South Fremont Community Plan [ https://www.fremont.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/7157/637821953481800000 ]. The purpose is to 1) clarify and enhance definitions, procedures, and standards related to development and use of property within Fremont, and 2) continue to implement Fremont's 2023-2031 Housing Element [ https://www.fremont.gov/government/departments/community-development/planning-building-permit-services/plans-maps-guidelines/general-plan/housing-element ].

The City periodically prepares updates to Fremont's Zoning Ordinance [ https://www.codepublishing.com/CA/Fremont/#!/Fremont18/Fremont18.html ] and other sections of the Municipal Code to correct errors, inconsistencies, and outdated sections; revise provisions to be consistent with State law; ensure alignment with Fremont's General Plan [ https://www.fremont.gov/government/departments/community-development/planning-building-permit-services/plans-maps-guidelines/general-plan ] and other policy documents; and create, enhance, and clarify definitions, procedures, and standards.

On Tuesday, December 17 at 7:00 p.m., the Fremont City Council will consider the proposed code amendments, which were recommended, without modification, by the City's Planning Commission at their November 21 hearing [ https://fremontcityca.iqm2.com/Citizens/Detail_Meeting.aspx?ID=2023 ]. The public hearing will take place in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 3300 Capitol Avenue, and will also be held virtually via Zoom. The agenda will be available online through the City's Agenda Center [ https://www.fremont.gov/government/agenda-center ] no later than Friday, December 13 at 5:00 p.m. It will include a link to a staff report for more information and instructions for participating and providing public comment.
