In the world of midsize sedans, the Camry ranks among the best thanks to its comfortable ride, quiet cabin, excellent fuel economy, and easy-to-use controls. This fuel-efficient hybrid version achieved an impressive 47 mpg overall in our testing. Thankfully, the hybrid battery does not take up extra trunk space like previous models. Handling is slightly improved over previous versions, but the low stance makes access a bit more difficult, and the rear seats are not as roomy as some competitors. FCW and AEB with pedestrian detection are standard, but BSW and RCTW are optional; the 2021 model upgrades to Toyota's Safety Sense 2.5+ safety suite. Highlights include automatic emergency braking to detect pedestrians in dark areas and bicyclists during the day, adaptive cruise control, and lane centering.
