City of Toronto issues final 2024 property tax bills

The City of Toronto has started issuing the 2024 final property tax bills, the second of two tax bills sent to property owners annually. The 2024 interim tax bill was issued in January. The funds collected through the final property tax bill will help address critical infrastructure needs, accelerate capital projects, support state-of-good-repair work and enhance public spaces across Toronto.

The City is reminding property owners that payment due dates for final tax bills under the regular remittance schedule are July 2, August 1 and September 3.

For property owners enrolled in the Pre-Authorized Tax Payment program, automatic 2024 tax bill deductions will be made from their bank account, credit card or debit card on the following dates:
• Two-instalment plan: July 2.
• Six-instalment plan: July 2, August 1 and September 3.
• 11-instalment plan: July 15, August 15, September 16, October 15, November 15 and December 16.

Property owners now have the option to go paperless with eBilling. By registering, property owners can receive email notifications of their property tax bills and access their digital bills securely on a website for viewing, printing and downloading.

Property owners can choose from several payment methods including:
• MyToronto Pay, a digital payment platform that provides various payment options
• Online banking through banks or financial institutions
• Telephone banking
• In-person at a bank teller or ATM
• Enrolling in the Pre-authorized Tax Payment program
• Cheque at an in-person counter service or by mail
• In-person at a property tax and utility counter at City Hall and civic centres

In-person counter services at Toronto City Hall and civic centres are open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. More information is available on the City's website: www.toronto.ca/InquiryPaymentCounters.

To enrol in eBilling or lean more about payment options including where to mail a cheque is available on the City’s Pay Your Property Tax Bill webpage: https://www.toronto.ca/services-payments/property-taxes-utilities/property-tax/pay-your-property-tax-bill/.

For more information about the City’s MyToronto Pay option, visit: www.toronto.ca/services-payments/mytoronto-pay.

To avoid late fees and penalties, payments must reach the City before end of the day on the due date. Property owners enrolled in pre-authorized payment plans who have changed addresses should update their account information with the City or their financial institution to ensure that payments are correctly applied and avoid penalties.

Property owners can access their property tax account details through the online Property Tax Lookup tool (www.toronto.ca/PropertyTax) or by contacting the 311 Tax & Utility Inquiry Line which is available Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Customers outside Toronto can call 416-392-CITY (2489) and TTY users can call 416-338-0TTY (0889).

A variety of property tax, water and solid waste relief programs are accessible to lower-income property owners. Additional details can be found on the City's Property Tax, Water & Solid Waste Relief and Rebate Programs webpage: www.toronto.ca/services-payments/property-taxes-utilities/property-tax/property-tax-water-solid-waste-relief-and-rebate-programs.
