Description

The Yatsushiro Myoken Festival at Yatsushiro Shrine, one of the three major festivals in Kyushu, is a major autumn festival that has continued since the Edo period.
In addition to being a nationally designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, the festival is attracting attention as it will be registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2020.
The highlight of the festival, the "Shinko parade," features a procession of large turtle snakes, lions, and variously decorated kasaboko floats, which are believed to be the vehicles of the Myokenjin deity.
Goya （ Goya ） is the eve of the Myoken Festival, and in addition to displays of kasaboko floats and turtle snakes in the Honmachi arcade and other locations, stamp rally and other events are held to enhance the festival atmosphere.
