*Seeking Nonprofit Applicants for Human Services Grant Funding
*The City of Kenmore is currently accepting applications from human service providers in the community for 2025-2026 funding. The City of Kenmore provides grants to nonprofit organizations that support human services activities and solicits applications every two years. Kenmore funds programs that address the full spectrum of human service needs, including food security, housing stability, homelessness prevention, health, behavioral health, youth services, domestic violence services and many others. Human service providers can apply by April 8 at Share-1-App [ https://www.redmond.gov/999/Share-1-App ], a collaborative online funding application website that is shared with fifteen other King County cities that are a part of the Human Services Funders Collaborative. The funding recommendations will be included in the Kenmore City Council 2025-2026 biennial budget work this fall. Read the full press release [ https://lnks.gd/2/2tztmJ_ ] or apply here [ https://www.redmond.gov/999/Share-1-App ].

*Financial Sustainability Plan Town Hall April 3
*Planning for Kenmore’s financial future is underway with the 2024 Financial Sustainability Plan. Due to the state-imposed 1% limit on property tax growth, high inflation, relatively flat growth in other revenues, unfunded state and federal mandates, and other factors, the City’s operating revenues are not keeping pace with the cost of doing business. As a result, the City of Kenmore faces an upcoming structural deficit in its operating budget and will need to revise the Financial Sustainability Plan that was adopted in 2020. To address these concerns, the City has mobilized a Financial Sustainability Plan (FSP) Task Force of nine community members, serving from January 2024 to April 2024.
*The FSP Task Force is hosting a Town Hall meeting on April 3 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at City Hall. All community members are invited to participate and share their ideas and input for future budgeting discussions and planning. *
There will also be an interactive budget simulation tool available through the FSP online open house [ https://speakupkenmore.com/fsp ] next week (stay tuned!) that community members can participate in virtually to share their budgeting priorities. You can also email your comments and hopes for Kenmore’s financial future to fsptaskforce@kenmorewa.gov. Your input is encouraged and welcome.

*193rd Slip Lane Closure Update
*At this week's City Council meeting [ https://kenmore.civicweb.net/document/253885/ ], a staff report was given to provide an update on the slip lane closure on 193rd street. For the last nine months, the right turn slip lane on 193rd Street going on to southbound 61st Street has been closed and used for staging and storage for the culvert replacement project across the street. Prior to its closure, this slip lane has been directly associated with approximately two-thirds of the crashes at that intersection. As a result, this right-turn slip lane will continue to be closed indefinitely. It is recognized that this change has resulted in additional delays for drivers traveling east on 193rd Street; however, closing this slip lane also offers a substantial safety benefit for all road users, and will greatly reduce the risk of future crash injuries occurring at this location. Read the update [ https://www.kenmorewa.gov/Home/Components/News/News/369/301 ] to learn more about the reasons behind the slip lane closure.
