Please let me know a good way to send money to Japan.

During this time of strong dollar/weak yen, I am thinking of sending money to help a relative living in Japan who is in financial trouble.
If I send dollars through my bank in the U.S., the current exchange rate is more yen than before. Also, what percentage of the remittance amount is usually charged as commission? Please let me know if you have any experience.
