Setsuko Mikishi Memorial Museum of Art Special Exhibition Ainu Handicrafts "AINU ART - Songs of Moleu

In this exhibition, Saya Ogasawara ( Illustration ), Koji Kaizawa ( Wood Carving ), Toru Kaizawa ( Wood Carving ), Noriko Kawamura ( Fabric Art ), Hiroyuki Shimokura ( Gold Work ), Maki Sekine ( Design ) , Kimiko Naraki ( Embroidery ), Kayoko Nishida ( Embroidery ), Kohei Fujito ( Mixed Media ), Yukio Fujito ( Wood Carving ), Koji Yuki ( Prints ), etc., will present their recent and new works to look at Ainu In addition, the exhibition will also feature works from the 19th and 20th century Ainu collections held by the National Museum of the Ainu People, the Ainu National Culture Foundation, and others. The exhibition also introduces the relationship between the Owari Tokugawa family and the town of Yakumo in Hokkaido.

The Ainu Handicrafts Exhibition has been held by the Ainu Folk Culture Foundation since 1997 at art galleries and museums nationwide to promote Ainu culture and research. In addition to introducing outstanding Ainu collections from Japan and abroad, the exhibition has featured the activities of artists who are currently active in the field.
