June 14 UPDATE: SBA DLOC observes federal holiday June 19
Officials with the U.S. Small Business Association announces that the Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) at the Kalāheo Neighborhood Center will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth federal holiday.
The SBA DLOC at the Kalāheo Neighborhood Center will resume regular business hours on Thursday, June 20.
The deadline to apply for property damage is July 22, 2024. The deadline to apply for economic injury is Feb. 21, 2025. Applicants may apply online and receive additional disaster assistance information at SBA.gov/disaster [ https://www.sba.gov/funding-programs/disaster-assistance?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ].

*SBA offers Disaster Assistance loans to Kaua‘i businesses, residents affected by April floods *
LĪHU‘E—The U.S. Small Business Association is now offering low-interest federal disaster loans to Kaua‘i businesses and residents affected by flood events on April 11-12.
“We encourage affected residents and businesses in need of flood recovery assistance to apply for these loans as soon as possible,” said Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency Administrator Elton Ushio. “SBA representatives will be on Kaua‘i starting Thursday, and they can provide in-person assistance with the application process.”
The deadline to apply for property damage is July 22, 2024. The deadline to apply for economic injury is Feb. 21, 2025. Applicants may apply online and receive additional disaster assistance information at SBA.gov/disaster [ https://www.sba.gov/funding-programs/disaster-assistance?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ].
With assistance from the County of Kaua‘i, the Small Business Administration will host a Disaster Loan Outreach Center at the Kalāheo Neighborhood Center starting May 23 at 1 p.m. Representatives from the SBA will be available until further notice at the Kalāheo location Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Disaster loans up to $500,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. According to the SBA, homeowners and renters are eligible for up to $100,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property, including personal vehicles. Interest rates can be as low as 4% for businesses, 3.25% for private nonprofit organizations, and 2.688% for homeowners and renters with terms up to 30 years. Loan amounts and terms are set by SBA and are based on each applicant’s financial condition.
Interest does not accrue until 12 months after the first disaster loan disbursement date. SBA disaster loan repayment begins 12 months from the first disbursement date.
Applicants may call SBA’s Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for more information on SBA disaster assistance. For people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability, please dial 7-1-1 to access telecommunications relay services.
