El Camino Real Construction Updates
El Camino Real Construction Map
El Camino Real, also known as State Route 82, is owned and operated by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). The Caltrans El Camino Real Pavement Maintenance Project [ https://www.mountainview.gov/our-city/departments/public-works/city-projects-bids/el-camino-real-improvements ] will bring much anticipated bicycle, pedestrian and roadway condition improvements.
Caltrans crews will begin the paving process the week of Sept. 9 on Southbound State Route 82/El Camino Real (SR-82/ECR), beginning at Sand Hill Road, in Palo Alto. Caltrans anticipates paving work will begin in Mountain View in early Oct. Exact dates are dependent on productivity.
*Lane Closures: Beginning Sept. 9*
*10 p.m. - 8 a.m.: Northbound, Monday to Friday*
*9 p.m. - 7 a.m.: Southbound, Monday to Friday*
Paving in both directions will take place in segments moving south. After the southbound direction of the segment is complete, the contractor indicates that operations will then turn around and pave northbound. This will be repeated for each segment working from the north to the south.
Work activities and lane closures will be conducted overnight.
Beginning the week of Sept. 9, vehicles will not be permitted to park at all times on SR-82 along the project location. “No Parking” signs will be posted.
More details regarding specific updates on the Mountain View stretch of El Camino Real will be provided once available. For additional information, email Caltrans: sr82pave@dot.ca.gov or call the Project Hotline at (510) 286-0319.
